Week 1 of living in NY
Okay so technically I'm in NJ at the moment, housesitting for some friends. However, after only 2 days here officially, I got a job! I will be one of three admins to a team of 20 sales guys. What do they sell? Nothing, technically. They get people jobs. I have the utmost respect for people who spend their days helping others and I cannot wait to start working with this no doubt wonderful group of people. The job will grow and change along with my talents and experience so I know the position will be a perfect re-entry into my career path. The company is worldwide, giving opportunities not just in the US, but around the globe.
Getting to the east coast was a breeze. I stayed with friends in Austin, then Memphis, then a hotel in Virginia and then had lunch with a friend in Arlington before driving into Bradley Beach. I didn't see a drop of snow the whole three days of driving and thoroughly enjoyed the views along my journey. Hours after my arrival, though, one of the worst snow storms of the season hit the eastern seaboard. I was unable to get to the city for interviews the next day as planned, so spent the day watching movies and relaxing. It was a much needed break after all the driving so I enjoyed it a lot. I tried again the next day to no avail as none of the train stations had cleared any parking spaces. That day was tough as I just wanted to get to my interviews. I felt a little panicked, which is unlike me. That night my friends opened a bottle of champagne to toast my arrival to the city! It was a great night, but ended at 3:30am.
The next morning, after only 3 hours sleep and with a massive headache I headed into the city for my interview, finally! It went great and I met five of the people who are now my coworkers!! They were all so great I cannot wait to get to know them all better. With a job now set, I am going to relax and enjoy this weekend. I will find out Monday what day I start and begin part 1 of my new life in NY. Oh, one little thing, the building I get to work in is on Park Avenue!! Talk about working in Manhattan! I'm a very blessed girl, as always. Thank you, God and thank you to all of you out there who prayed for me! May you each feel as blessed and loved as I do!
